The Three Main Types of Water Heaters

Water heaters are responsible for heating your home’s supply of water and immediately supplying this hot water to appliances and fixtures. Precision Heating & Air installs, services, and repairs a wide array of water heaters. Three of the most common type of water heaters are conventional tank water heaters, tankless water heaters, and hybrid water heaters.

Conventional Tank Water Heater

The conventional tank water heater is designed to store and heat anywhere from 20 to 80 gallons of water. These systems work with electric and fuel sources to keep the water stored at approximately 120 degree Fahrenheit at all times. The water heater tank is typically stored in your garage, basement, or closet.

Tankless Water Heaters Save Money

Tankless water heaters are eco-friendlier alternatives to the traditional tank water heater. These units heat cold water with a gas burner or electric elements as it passes through the water heater. Instead of storing gallons of heated water, tankless water heaters only heat the water as needed and feature easily adjustable temperatures.

Hybrid Water Heaters

Hybrid water heaters are a combination of both conventional water heaters and tankless water heaters. These units heat cold water by using an electrical heating element and a heat pump. The heat pump effectively extracts heat from the ambient air. These units deliver hot water significantly faster than a standard electrical water heater.
