Position: Installation Apprentice
Department: Installation
Reports to: Installation Manager or Lead Installer
Compensation: Performance pay – potential $130,000 annual salary plus bonus and commission potential of $20,000/year
Position Summary
The Installation Apprentice at Precision Heating And Air is responsible for installing HVAC systems, including ductwork, tank or tankless water heaters, and IAQ systems. This position is suitable for individuals seeking an apprenticeship in HVAC installation and does not require previous lead installer experience. The apprentice will work under the supervision and guidance of the Installation Manager or Lead Installer to develop their skills and knowledge.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist in installing HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, and related components, as directed by the Installation Manager or Lead Installer.
2. Support the installation of tank or tankless water heaters, ensuring proper connections and functionality under the supervision of the senior installer.
3. Aid in installing IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) systems, such as air purifiers, humidifiers, and ventilation systems, following manufacturer instructions and guidance from the senior installer.
4. Collaborate with the Installation Manager and other team members to ensure efficient and timely completion of installation projects.
5. Learn and understand code requirements and safety regulations relevant to HVAC installation, ensuring compliance with these standards.
6. Assist in completing necessary paperwork, including work orders, installation checklists, and equipment documentation.
7. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored and accounted for.
8. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving installation-related issues, seeking guidance and support from the senior installer.
9. Communicate effectively with customers, under the supervision of the senior installer, addressing any concerns or questions during the installation process.
10. Adhere to safety protocols and company policies, promoting a culture of safety in all aspects of work.
11. Continuously develop technical knowledge and skills by actively participating in training sessions and workshops provided by the company.
12. Demonstrate a professional and customer-focused attitude, representing the company positively in all interactions.
13. Support the training and development of junior apprentices, as directed by the Installation Manager or Lead Installer.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical or vocational training in HVAC installation is preferred but not mandatory.
- No previous lead installer experience is required; however, a strong interest and willingness to learn HVAC installation procedures and techniques is essential.
- Clean DMV report with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and components is beneficial.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under the supervision of a senior installer.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment and work in various weather conditions.
